Marimekko Kaiku
Over 40 years after infamous Marimekko designer Maija Isola created her beautiful prints, yet another talented Maija arises to stupefy the world with impressive new patterns. Designer Maija Louekari is responsible for the popular Kaiku print which features a tall, black and white birch tree. As the tree casually waves in the breeze against a beautiful blue and green landscaped background, Louekari’s marked sense of location transports you to this visual oasis. Inspired by nature, Louekari uses hand drawn images to capture real-life. Finnish for “echo”, this print is an impressive visual reflection of the Finnish countryside. A familiar print in Finland, Kaiku is a cultural favorite which is even used by the Finnish post office.
