The iittala Dahlström Tools casseroles, designed by Björn Dahlström, are constructed using an innovative Compound Technology that ensures consistent and superior results. The outer layer is .5mm stainless steel for durability; the inner core is 2.5mm for superior heat distribution; and the inner layer is .4mm 18/10 stainless steel for great cooking performance.

    I've had one of these for over 10 years. They are simply superb.
    They cook extremely evenly, food rarely sticks and virtually never burns.
    Use on gas ring and in the oven.
    The lid fits tightly so they simmer well.

    I am surprised how often I use this large capacity casserole. I hummed and hawed about purchasing the 5 or the 8qt for ages. I have the 5qt cast iron casserole that is no longer in the range (fabulous but heavy!). In the end I went for the 8qt and am so pleased I did. I use it for for all sorts of things, like making jams etc from our fruit trees, big casserole dishes for parties or for freezing as well as for various stocks. The solid handles make it very easy to handle when full.
