Q & A
Kaj Franck’s 1957 design is as timeless as it is contemporary in style. Four angled compartments give a sharp and thoughtful presentation to your appetizers or home décor. The platter is easy to carry, as your hand cradles the underside of a compartment. Made of pure white bone china, the iittala Lokerovati Serving Platter is spare, yet fascinating.

First founded as a glassworks company in 1881, iittala is now a leading company in modern Finnish design producing a range of dinnerware, glassware and art pieces. You’d be hard-pressed to find a Finn or fan of Finnish design that doesn’t recognize the iittala logo, designed by Timo Sarpane... More iittala
Born in Finland in the early 1900’s, designer Kaj Franck preferred deconstructed design and valued usability as it directly related to beauty. In removing excessive elements, his simplistic designs are comfortable and easily palatable for home use. Franck’s hauntingly beautiful Kartio Glass... More Kaj Franck
I bought this serving tray on a Daily Deal and had no specific plans of when to use it. Over the holidays it was my "constant" on the dinner table (with ham, roast and chops) and with hors d'oeuvres, as guests repeatedly asked me -- where did you get the cool dish? It's the perfect size for serving sauces. And, if you have fewer than four, a colorful holiday sprig or decoration works well in the 4th compartment.

Los Angeles
A clever and attractive Finnish design
December 8, 2016
I've had a Lokerovati dish for several decades. I bought it at Design Research in Los Angeles. It's been my mainstay for cocktail parties. I use the four segments of the dish for olives, pickled onions, Maraschino cherries, and lemon peel. The dish is also useful for serving small candies, nuts, and other finger foods. My original dish was made in Finland. My recently purchased Lokerovati dishes from FinnStyle are made in Indonesia. The quality of the Indonesian made dishes seems comparable to the Finnish dish, although the glaze has more of a cream color compared to the original white. In whatever color, this is a useful and clever design.
