Named Kastehelmi (dewdrop) after the bubbled detailing on the pressed glass, this collection was originally produced from 1964-1988 and brought back to celebrate Oiva Toikka's 50 year mark as a designer. The bubbled design wraps around the jar, including the base, while the lid is contrastingly smooth. The lid protects the contents as it has a rubber seal, but it is also safe for popping on and off the jar, as it is made of emulating acrylic. Stash cinnamon sticks, chocolates, sugar cubes, or even succulents in this elegant glass jar. The color of calm waters or a great tide, Sea Blue is both a peaceful and powerful pop of color for any decor.

Though I looked up the dimensions before ordering I was happily surprised by the generous size. The sea blue colored glass is lovely and the secure lid makes it a a great choice for tasty candy treats. The sale price was the impetus to order it and I am so happy I did.
Pros
Beautiful color, good size, well-fitting lid.
Cons
The lid is plastic. This is t surprising but a glass, metal or wood lid would be more aesthetically in keeping with Finnish style.

Iittala glass jars are great for kitchen storage. I bought this Kastehelmi jar to match my tall Sea Blue one. The lids are airtight, so they keep food fresh. They stack perfectly. The acrylic lid is sea blue to match the jar, a very attractive look.

Cons
The jar is labeled as "large", but in reality it is the "small" size of the original small, medium, and large. I love the look, but wish it was larger/taller.

Not being familiar with this line, I expected it to be more fragile. The dewdrop design gives it visual delicacy, but it is sturdy. I was worried that the lid would not be up to the quality of the vessel, but it is! (See pics) the color match is flawless, it too is sturdy and the gasket gives it a close fit. The dew drops also enable one to grip the jar with the confidence that it will not slip. And it is just gorgeous.

These jars are perfect for storing nuts, cereal, dried fruit, candy, etc. The lids fit securely but are easy to remove. They stack beautifully, and it's fun to collect different colors as they become available.
