Q & A
Please note: Because each is made from recycled glass, colors may slightly vary and small bubbles and other unique imperfections may occur.
Pieces from the special edition recycled glass collection by iittala make the perfect gift for those who seek to reuse, repurpose, and recycle - as well as those who love one-of-a-kind treasures. Because each is made with leftover and mixed glass mass from the factory in Finland, the color may vary from cool blues to calming greens. Each is still handcrafted and mouth-blown to be of the same durable quality Finland is known for, just with a focus on sustainable style. Each is specially engraved to say ""IITTALA 2021 RECYCLED"" on the base, and even the famous ""i"" red logo sticker notes its recycled material.
Here, the glass is used to create Alvar Aalto's famous ""Savoy"" vase in a rare 6-1/4" (160 mm) size. Though it works beautifully to hold fresh flowers, Aalto wanted the end user to determine its purpose, and rest assured it can stand alone empty as the award-winning and museum-residing glass art piece it is. While the fluid form feels like a natural occurrence, it takes 7 craftsmen, 12 work stages and 30 hours to create just one of these extraordinary vases."
