Q & A
In the late 1940s, Ilmari Tapiovaara entered a competition to design furniture for the student housing complex at the Helsinki University of Technology: this was the winning chair. Lukki means "Daddy Longlegs" in Finnish, a humorous yet fitting name for the steel tube legs limbs that playfully contrast with wood seats and backrests. The modern forms represent strength, versatility, and durability in any use.
