Q & A
Unique to the 2010 collection of birds, Fiskariina, is a reference to iittala’s parent company, Fiskars, and their well-known scissors. 2010 represents 50 years of collaboration between artist Oiva Toikka and iittala and Fiskariina is another wonderful tribute to that relationship. An extended clear glass body is beautifully wrapped in black ribbons in an intricate woven pattern that illustrates the steady hand and strong attention to detail of the master glassblowers at iittala. Fiskariina has a split beak that has a metallic appearance – a playful nod to the famous Fiskars scissors.
The 2010 collection of birds by Oiva Toikka are individually mouth-blown by the master glassblowers at iittala's glassworks in Nuutajärvi, Finland. Each handcrafted iittala Toikka Fiskariina carries the signature "O. Toikka Nuutajärvi" on its base to ensure its authenticity.
