The Räsymatto (Rag Rug) pattern was inspired by the rag rugs Finnish cabins often have, a wonderful tradition and story to bring to your home in any way you wish. In a soft, neutral colorway of white and light grey, the 100% acrylic-coated cotton is perfect for crafting tablecloths, table runners, placemats and more.
Please note: This fabric is coated in acrylic, not PVC as Marimekko fabric previously was. Although it is less shiny and smooth than the PVC fabrics, it has even greater benefits. A safe and eco-friendly alternative, acrylic-coating has better stain repellent qualities than PVC, is machine-washable, and is foldable without leaving marks on the fabric.
This Marimekko fabric is sold by the yard. Enter desired quantity of yards in the 'Yards' field. If you order multiple yards, they will remain intact.
Care: Machine washable

This is not the first coated Marimekko fabric I’ve purchased. I love these cloths for the table because they are so easy to wipe clean. This neutral pattern looks terrific with all my colorful Iittala and Mekimekko dishware. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

At fist I wasn't sure if I liked it because it's really on the pale side and I'm so used to the brighter Marimekko designs. But it's so elegant. I love the acrylic coated cottons, they make great tablecloths and placemats.

I've been wanting to purchase this for my dining room table for a long time, but as I needed 3 yards, I was reluctant to spend the money. Finally decided to take the plunge and purchase it as a belated birthday gift for my self. It is well worth the money. The pattern is elegantly understated and will look wonderful all year long. The pattern and color make it simple to match to seasonal table decorations. The feel of the fabric is much nicer than the older waterproof coated fabric. I look forward to using this everyday.
Pros
Subtle, classic pattern
Waterproof and machine washable
More natural feel than older coated fabric
Cons
Expensive

So subtle and elegant. Also, easy to clean! Used to like the PVC coated fabric, but the acrylic actually permeates through and through so that doesn't stain. Really important for a white tablecloth!
Pros
Easy to clean.
Simple, elegant design.

I love that this pattern isn’t bold. It brightens up the kitchen/dining area with white and light gray.
Pros
Love this type of coating instead of the plastic feel coating. So much classier!

I love the finish on this coated tablecloth. The pattern and color goes with everything. I ordered 4 yards so it will fit my table when it's fully extended.
Could this be used to make a comfortable apron or is it too stiff to wear? Am a better off choosing a regular cotton cloth to make an apron? Thank you.
1 Answer
I would use a regular cotton for making an apron. The acrylic is best reserved for tablecloths/runners
Is this fabric suitable for covering dining chair seats?

Unfortunately this is not upholstery grade fabric and is not recommended for that use. Marimekko does not have any upholstery fabrics in production at this time.
