Get in line with modern style as Marimekko introduces its newest bedding for 2013. The Marimekko Ajo Black/White Percale Sheet Set features a thin black and white striped that immediately captures your attention. Designed by Kristina Isola in 1985, she created a trio of striped patterns with Ajo being the smallest, Ujo the medium stripe and Nimikko the largest. Finnish for "race" or "driving", the Ajo pattern keeps your bedroom on track with mod-worthy design that never goes out of style. Try mixing Ajo Black/White with the Marimekko Unikko Red Duvet for a perfectly patterned bed.

About Percale:
A high-quality weave, percale has a noticeably tighter weave that allows for a higher thread count which makes the sheets softer to the touch. Medium in weight, the fabric is matte with no additional sheen or shine but the texture is very smooth and able to resist warping and washes exceptionally well.
Care: Wash in cold water on the gentle cycle. Tumble dry low. Iron on warm as needed.

I ordered these sheets because I knew they would look wonderful with my Marimekko duvet cover. And they do. The only type of sheets that I will buy are percale, I love a smooth feel, and these are described as percale. But they feel very rough to me, much coarser than the duvet cover, and make moving around difficult. They are also huge and every morning I have to pull and re-tuck the bottom sheet. I have a thick mattress, but no topper on it, so maybe they would fit better with a topper.
Pros
They look great with my Marimekko Annansilmä duvet cover
Cons
Feel rough to me
Fitted sheet is HUGE

Pairing these stripes sheets with my Marimekko red floral bedding makes me smile every time I walk into my bedroom.
Been fond of Marimekko since it was first introduced in the 60s so it also carries a bit of nostalgia. Thanks for the quick shipping too.
Pros
Comfortable and pretty.

Best sheets we've had
June 15, 2013
We've tried percale sheets from various places; company store, llbean, etc. The Marimekko are by far the most comfortable. While they do wrinkle a bit (like all percale that isn't treated), they are much smoother than any others we've owned. They become less wrinkled over time - so be patient and don't worry about a few wrinkles, which the pattern disguises well. The striking graphics are really nice in our bedroom (mid century modern) and compliment the Alexander Girard textile hanging behind the bed. One thing to know is the pillow cases are not oversize - they will be tight on a 20" x 25" pillow. We use 16" x 24" memory foam pillows that we really find comfortable, and the pillowcases fit perfectly. The sheets, both top and bottom are sufficiently sized (platform bed with about a 10" thick Tempurpedic mattress). Overall, great sheets; comfort, appearance, and ease of care.

The first thing I said when I touched these is "Oh! They are so soft!". They wash well meaning they lose none of their softness. I paired these with my red poppy marimekko comforter. Love these sheets so much. Will be ordering another set.
