The Skolt Sámi were among the first to wear earrings in the northernmost parts of Europe, and the Kalevala Petsamo collection is designed after the prototype of that motif. Traders from the east sold jewelry decoration with colored pieces of glass and silver, though this silver necklace features a stunning black onyx for versatile, modern style. Resembling an octopus, the motif is offered again by Kalevala after a 20 year absence to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the resettle of the Skolts. Fittingly, the face of the collection is Heidi Gauriloff, a young Skolt woman who makes music in the Skolt Sámi language.
Pendant is 1" L x 2" H (23 mm x 46 mm). Weight is 15 g (0.5 oz)
