Q & A
Please note: Because each is made from recycled glass, colors may vary and small bubbles and other unique imperfections may occur. See secondary image for examples of this variation.
Pieces from the special edition recycled glass collection by iittala make the perfect give for those who seek to reuse, repurpose, and recycle - as well as those who love one-of-a-kind treasures. Because each is made with leftover and mixed glass mass from the factory in Finland, the color may vary from cool blues to calming greens. Each is still made with quality virgin materials to be of the same durable quality Finland is known for, just with a focus on sustainable style. Each is specially engraved to say "RECYCLED iittala" on the base, and even the famous "i" red logo sticker notes its recycled material.
Here, the glass is crafted into a set of tumblers perfect for water, juice, milk, and more. Called Raami (Frame), this new collection designed by Jasper Morrison for iittala beautifully merges traditional tableware with modern, sleek shapes. The textured pressed glass is rimmed only on the inside so it looks different to the eye than it feels in hand. From breakfast to dinner and occasions both big and small; these thoughtful objects create beauty in even the littlest daily things.

First founded as a glassworks company in 1881, iittala is now a leading company in modern Finnish design producing a range of dinnerware, glassware and art pieces. You’d be hard-pressed to find a Finn or fan of Finnish design that doesn’t recognize the iittala logo, designed by Timo Sarpane... More iittala
Regardless if is whiskey on the rocks or a glass of juice, these are probably the most used glasses in our house.

Beautiful yet utilitarian!
March 17, 2022
We had eight of the medium/small Aino Aalto glasses in clear for the longest time, but between grandchildren and the occasional patio accident, we were down to only two. The search had to get underway! We auditioned all of the glassware that FinnStyle carries in roughly the "juice glass" size and Raami was the unanimous favorite. Top Qualities: catches the light beautifully and throws a discreet pattern with shadows. Perfect fit for several sizes of hands and the exterior glass seems somewhat "grippy" even though it is a smooth surface. All four household members mentioned the "heft" or "nice weight" as this is a substantial glass and has a feel of quality. Last but not least, the lip of the rim of the tumbler is beautifully formed, smooth, with a substantial radius, taking its' cues from Kartio. One small unexpected item: the ribbed design is on the inside of the glass, even though in photography it would seem to be on the outside.
Pros
Beautiful, substantive weight, casts light shapes and shadows, utilitarian.
Cons
We'll assume Jasper Morrison and the experts at iittala knew exactly what they were doing and why, and after you buy these glasses you will fall in love with them, however, every photograph and video gives the appearance that the ribs are on the outside of the tumblers, when in fact they are inside and the outside is smooth. Not really a con, but the marketing description for the pieces should find a way to say this and turn it into a selling point.
