A stripped down version of the Aika mug by Heikko Orvala serves as the canvas for the Graphics series. Graphics is a collection of visual expressions by four international designers, each with their own unique voice. The project aims to bring the most interesting art to the most simple moments, like sipping on morning coffee or afternoon tea. Each comes packaged in a beautiful box for gifting, storing, or re-using. This mug was designed by visual artist Merijn Hos, who has done work for Bose, Red Bull, Google, Keds and more. Though he is renowned for his wooden sculptures, he uses a multitude of colors to bring a different point of view to Nordic living. The result is called "Distortion," and like others in the collection, it has a psychedelic, funky feel to it.

I am a huge tea drinker and have spent a lot of time in Scandinavian Countries where I first saw and fell head over heels with the Iittala Brand. When I am abroad I fill bags, ship items home and am so happy to rent houses where I come across renters who have the lines scattered throughout their homes. Unfortunately FinnStyle is the only sure place I can order from in the United States. The Graphics Distortions Mug is a nice weight and I feel like I am sitting curbside by the Grand Hotel in Stockholm having a bracing cup of tea from a wonderfully made mug that is visually appealing.
Pros
Well made, color fast, good weight, durable and built to go into the dishwasher but I wash all by hand.
Cons
I think the clay is from China and I hope Fiskars & Iittala holds them to a very high standard so that the material that comprise the cups are not laced with chemicals.
