The new ultramarine blue Ruutu vases are beautiful alone or grouped with other pieces of the collection. Designed by the French brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Ruutu is a perfectly symmetrical mouthblown masterpiece. Due to the simple diamond shape, Ruutu vases are very complicated and challenging to produce, as glass is a material that likes roundness and not to be drawn into precise geometrical forms. Each Ruutu glass vase is mouthblown and hand-crafted at the Iittala Glass Factory in Finland.

The vase has a simple Diamond shaped opening and is surprisingly hefty so it won’t move around easily. The shape makes the flowers arrange naturally into an asymmetric and artistic configuration. Also, the beautiful blue color goes with almost any flower and matches my blue Ittala cups.

The Ruutu vase is beautiful. It's darker in person than the photos show. I really love the diamond shape! The Iittala box was in rough shape, (outside mailing box was fine), but the vase was fine inside. It's a nice sized vase with intense color and a unique design!

I have the same vase in cranberry, and love it. I bought two of the blue for people I really love. One is being shipped, but I saw the other one I gave my niece for Christmas at her house....full of white flowers, and was so impressed I bought another for my best friend.
I love the shape and color....the heft of it even empty. It's sculpture by itself. With flowers, it's transformative.
