This new version of the classic Aalto shape makes a wonderful gift this season. Alvar Aalto created the design in 1936 and entered it in the Karhula-Iittala Glass Design Competition, in which it won first place. It was unveiled the following year at the World's Fair in Paris, where its simple and organic shape was received as revolutionary compared to the ornate styles of the time. Today, the design remains modern and timeless. It is featured in the new Aqua color, named after its aquatic inspiration. The hue is a purplish-blue that becomes more saturated - almost neon - near the edges.

I love this bowl! The aqua color is beautiful. I use it for snacks, as a vase, as a candle holder or both at the same time as seen in the picture with a small floating candle.
