Q & A
iittala Gaissa was designed by Finland's Tapio Wirkkala in 1973. This beautiful and classic collection of cocktail glasses has rocky bottoms and thin walls that reflect the lucid qualities of ice.Wirkkala's themes are derived from observations of nature, like ice formations and movements of water. Named after a fell covered perpetually by snow, Wirkkala's Gaissa glasses powerfully illustrate the artist's master and command of his craft and the powerful force the arctic climate serves as his inspiration.

I received these glasses as a gift 30 or so years ago from someone who had traveled to Scandinavia. . Well, one was dropped and destroyed recently. I was so happy to find they were still available. They are a very nice glass and I love the design. I have never seen them any where else.

The 'ice' lines and forms are visible from multiple angles. As you drink from the glass you see and feel the glass's texture change. Some could say it is like a subtle moving glacier, in glass form.

So happy with the sale price of these gorgeous glasses, and really disappointed they are no longer available. Great service, as always, from Finn Style.
