iittala Aarne
Decorative artist and glass designer Göran Hongel set a trend for minimalist glass design in 1950s with the introduction of his Aarne glassware collection.
Aarne was awarded a gold medal at the esteemed Milan Triennale of 1954; selected as the symbol of the iittala glassworks for its 100th anniversary in 1981; and is featured in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Aarne remains one of the most classic shapes in the world of tabletop design. The distinguishing features of the lead-free crystal Aarne glassware are its thick base and tall, thin delicate lines that elegantly flare outward.
