I wanted placemats that would look elegant enough for guests, but wouldn't have to be set aside just for special occasions. I already had flowered Marimekko placemats that I can just throw in the washer and dryer. These would be perfect if they were equally sturdy. They shriveled a lot even with the dryer on low. They're still usable after ironing, but a bit smaller and not as crisp as they were before. Follow the directions to air-dry them!
