  Marimekko MansikkavuoretFinnish for “strawberry hills”, the 1969 Mansikkavuoret pattern was designed by Maija Isola and features a fanciful fruit design. Isola was connected to all aspects of her surroundings and pop culture did not escape her creative reach. Inspired by 2 particular songs by The Beatles, in looking at the Mansikkavuoret print you can see the connection between her giant red strawberries floating mid-air and the songs "Strawberry Fields" and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds." Both were released by The Beatles just two years prior this print.A lively era for Isola, her style employed cartoon-like designs and used heavily-saturated colors and dream-like imagery which rings true to the style of the late 60’s.
