Once upon a time, Maija Isola dropped her pail down a well and was inspired by the ripple effect to create her 1964 Kaivo (Well) pattern; half a century later, the bold design is still making waves worldwide. Curving black lines meet in the middle to form ovals and crescent moon shapes on this large-scale print, infused with a citrusy colorway of tangy orange and lemon yellow. Printed in Finland on 100% heavyweight cotton, this fabric would make a strong statement as a wall hanging, upholstered headboard or table linen. However this functional art is featured, the timeless design will outlive the fleeting fads for many years to come.
