Marimekko's fabrics are great for do-it-yourself projects like curtains and drapes. Below we have instructions on how you can create your very own Marimekko Drape.
You will need: Fabric (measure the length of your window and buy at least a foot beyond the length needed to cover the window), matching thread, iron and ironing board, and sewing machine.
To make your drapes, you should have two equal length fabrics. Start on the selvedge (long/tall) edges and iron ½" towards the wrong side. Fold over again and iron to enclose raw edges. Then sew the edges so that there are no raw edges. Now, fold the top of the fabric (across the width) ½" so that there are no rough edges. Then fold over again, 2 ½" or sufficient space for the curtain rod. Iron in place and sew along the rough folded edge. You will repeat the same thing on each of the top fabrics across the width. Once your finished, hang them up!
For a twist: You can add eyeholes along the top of the drape and string ribbions or place curtain rings though the holes.
