The iittala Stellar Jay is both a beauty and a rarity. An exclusive to FinnStyle, its partner sites and the Museum of Glass it was designed for, only 200 birds have been produced. Like in nature, a black head differentiates Oiva Toikka's Stellar Jay from the common blue. It is also called the long-crested jay for this striking crown. The substantial opalescent beak brings solidity to the translucent yet vivid blue glass of the bird's body. The item itself is beautiful. I saw a sign of a removed label at the bottom of the bird. Don't know what it is for. I bought it for a wedding gift and don't want to risk it. Already returned.
