Only 300 of the FinnFest 2018 Bird Grey Dove have been made, making it a must-have keepsake for fans of Finnish design. Each has been handcrafted and mouthblown by iittala's master blowers in Finland to be unique pieces of commemorative art. For the first time in 35 years of the celebration, FinnFest 2018 took place in Finland instead of North America. There in Tampere, the real-life grey stock doves which served as inspiration for Toikka were likely visitors of the event grounds as well. This dove has a grey, translucent body that is decorated with bronze luster flakes that iridescently change color as the light hits them. The base has been laser engraved to read "O. Toikka IITTALA FinnFest 2018," ensuring authenticity and reminding you of its meaningful origin. I almost gave it four stars because the picture makes the expectation of what you're going to get a little off. I thought this bird was an opaque white bird with silver flecks. It is however clear light grey glass with silver flecks. Still beautiful and wonderfully crafted. Just a bit off of what I was expecting. No regrets though.
