Designed by Finnish artist Oiva Toikka, iittala's Summer Grouse is truly unique. A raised, dark-colored spiral that begins at the top of its head and ends at the base of its body creates a textured and ornamental plumage of orange, yellow, and grey. The bird is a tear-dropped shape, with a small head, delicate beak, and pointed tail. Similar to the limited-edition Sleeping Summer Grouse, but smaller, this lovely, hand-blown creation is truly stunning.
On the base of each individualized bird is acid-stamped the signature of the artist.

Even though my wife and I are of Finnish Decent and have purchased items of Finnish design Since the 60's, I feel like a complete fool for having spent over $400 on this machine produced bird!

Bird of a different color!

My little bird looked very different from the photo. I know glass varies but my piece is almost solid yellow without any head color differentiation. It's okay because I still like it!
