Oiva Toikka’s Summer Finch is a limited edition glass bird for summer 2009. Smooth to the touch, the Summer Finch has an orderly bubble pattern embedded in the translucent apple green body. The Summer Finch’s head is virtually clear, with a deep green beak and a tail sculpted from rose-olive glass. Rose-olive glass shifts in color depending on lighting conditions. In natural light the tail of the Summer Finch will appear rose, and in artificial/fluorescent light it will appear olive green.
The innovative bubble pattern seen in the Summer Finch appears in many of the 2009 Toikka birds, and it attests to the skill and expertise of Finnish glass blowers at the Nuutajärvi Glass Factory in Finland.
