Inspiration for the iittala Nappula Black Tall Candle Holder came to designer Matti Klenell at the Nuutarjärvi glass museum, where he was drawn to the distinctive design of an interestingly shaped chair. Moved by the unique piece of furniture, Klenell set out to create memorable pieces of his own. Demanding attention, this is the tallest of the two candle holders in the Nappula collection. The sturdy powder coated steel has an attractive matte finish, and a felt bottom rest further stabilizes the piece. My first look at the chubby base of the Nappula candle holder made me think of a barbell or a baby's rattle, but a pair of these with candles are absolutely elegant. I've ordered a second pair in yellow, just for fun.
