Meet the newest member of the Essence family. Fittingly named "Universal," the large and sleekly-shaped glass is multifunctional. Use it to serve water, milk, shakes, juices, soft drinks, ciders, and even beer. The iittala Essence collection was designed by Argentinean designer Alfredo Häberli in 2001. The mouth-blown, lead-free glass allows for a thin lip that feels natural in hand and is pleasant to sip from. The Universal glasses will pair well with the original Essence win glasses at the table setting, since each stem and base are sized the same with this harmony in mind.

Loving these new glasses! They of course look great with my Essence collection. Again, this style fits nicely in the hand and has a very balanced feel without taking away from the lightness of the glass. These will hold whatever I want, from ice tea to water to a gin & tonic.

I love the design with the narrower neck of this vessel. However, I feel that the wider base, which helps avert spillage, is not ideal for me. They are a bit difficult to grasp. Ideal for a man, though.
