Designed by Alvar Aalto in 1954, his designs are largely based on the development of basic components that can be applied in a variety of ways. His furniture leg is one of the most important examples of this idea. Aalto was able to ingeniously take advantage of the L-leg he had developed earlier by splitting the leg in a longitudinal direction and re-attaching the pieces in a new way. In doing this, he created a completely new leg type; the fan-shaped X-leg. Built from natural birch, the elegant fan-leg design gives these low-set tables high-style. Available in dining and coffee table sizes, the innovative design is timeless.
