iittala Toikka Cucunor - 2008 Annual BirdWe are sorry but this item is sold out and no longer available.
The 2008 annual bird by Toikka is a delightful array of pastel shades painted in an almost watercolor like fashion. It is said that Toikka drew his inspiration for this bird from a popular Finnish poem called Kukunor ja Kalahari’. This post-war era poem is whimsical in nature as it describes the stories of two child sprites that spend the winter in a professor’s empty summer cottage. Full of wonderment and imagination, this bird can be seen as a similar artistic expression, this time in glass.
The Cucunor features a wonderfully rounded body marbled in shades of pastel pink, blue and green. The clear beak is beautifully formed from the smooth clear head which shows a hint of red and white stripping, reminiscent of a candy cane, underneath. The Cucunor’s mostly white, flat tail completes this perfect Toikka bird. This limited edition bird will only be available for a short time; don’t miss out on your chance to add the 2008 Toikka bird to your collection.
