The mugs were not as finely crafted as other pieces of this china that II bought in the past. Then I saw the "Made in Thailand" sticker on the bottom which was not on the china I bought before. I think this explains the poor quality and workmanship that is so inconsistent with what one expects from Arabia/Ittalla products.
Merchant Response:Iittala (Arabia) produces some products with contracted manufacturing partners to ensure an interesting, versatile and competitive range for the consumer. All products must meet the same quality standards regardless of where they are produced.

Pros
It is white.
Cons
Crude workmanship that stands out like a sore thumb when compared to previously purchased mugs (about 2 years ago) that absolutely does not justify the price nor the label.

Well made, great proportions, nice mug
December 30, 2011
My wife & I were looking for tea mugs that were just the right proportion and had white glazing so one could really see the color of the tea. Finnstyle had a couple of mugs in their inventory that would have worked, but this one seemed likely to feel the best in hand. Being a narrower and taller design, the beverage holds its temperature longer than a low and squat style. I'm glad we ordered this style, it's very well made, no slumping during firing evident, smooth flawless surface. My only caveat is that I was amazed to have paid $24 for a teacup made in the low wage country of Thailand.
