Finnish Tar Soap

Love the heavy tar and pine!

I love this soap especially the smell.

I like this soap a lot. Would love if it came in a larger bar but othewr than that, I'll be picking it up again.

Although the bars are smaller than some other tar soaps, they are also cheaper. But I also like the small size, it’s more manageable in some ways and easier to take in a dop kit when traveling. Leaves a subtle but pleasant scent, and you feel utterly clean but not dry afterward. Essential whether or not you have a sauna.

Is "0" stars an option? This soap smells very strong of bonfire smoke (you know, the kind that you'd need to take a shower after, just this soap leaves you smelling that way!). My wife says that it smells more like Beggin Strips (the bacon flavored dog treats). It took numerous washing (3-5 x's) with other soap and Dawn to get the smell off my skin. I think I was looking for a clean pine scent. This is not that...

This soap bar is tiny but its smell is MIGHTY ;-)
I'm sure FinnStyle is aware of how strong is the smell of this soap, but it didn't bother to put it into odor-proof packaging so that the rest of the stuff I purchased wouldn't saturate the strong tar odor. I should mention though, they included a cardboard note assuring me that "FinnStyle cares about the environment" and therefore my "order has been carefully packed with biodegradable cornstarch packing peanuts or recycled foam packing peanuts". I also received a separate email with the same statement. This made me chuckle because none of that was true and my whole order was just cramped up in a standard FEDEX envelope. Thank God the Hazelnut chocolate I was going to order was sold out - it would've been pretty sad to get my fave chocolate smelling like fresh asphalt ;-)
Buyer Beware!

My husband received this soap as a Christmas gift from our daughter. He loves it! It reminds him of soap he used at his grandma’s sauna while he was growing up.

The image on the website led me to expect a regular size bar of soap. It was a gift so glad I got two.
Quality of the soap is nice.

great soap, but be prepared to air out anything that is shipped with it so your chocolate doesn't smell like a campfire! Then again, some people might enjoy that :)

This little bar is great at multi-tasking. It feels good on the skin for hand and face, it adds aromatherapy to a shower, and it is excellent as a shampoo, leaves the hair full and manageable. When you first open the box the fragrance is a bit overwhelming, but after it is out for a day on the counter it is not strong. I personally really like the woodsy smell.

A wonderful evocative smell from my childhood saunas in Northern Minnesota!
