While Maija Isola worked in her office, she felt inspired by the pattern of light through her blinds and the familiar caw of seagulls. She grabbed a pair of scissors and crafted the Lokki (seagull) waves. Now a playful icon, particularly modern in black and white, Marimekko Lokki Fabric can be used for anything from a playroom fort to custom drapes. Surprisingly calming

The black and white waves enliven space without being disruptive even though the pattern is strong. The familiar Lokki pattern in clean simple black and white enriches
other colors in the room. I’m very pleased, thank you!

Marimekko has always been a favorite

I used seven flowers pastels and coordinates for my baby daughter in 1980 and now Lokki for her 5 year old son. A twin duvet for his daybed. Extra yardage for an upholstered cornise and chair cushion. I am going to try to replicate the wiggle with paint on the walls.
