Marimekko Unikko Red Large Mug

40+ years ago I fell in love Marimekko's modern style, materials, designs, and ceramics, but I was young and couldn't afford them. Recently, I found some of their items at a store on the Oregon Coast. It gave me the bug to buy one of their style setting mugs. Gives me a smile every timeii use it!

Nice big sized unikko mug for hot chocolate, soup or oatmeal. The Unikko pattern never fails to make me happy and cheerful.

I bought a box of Marimekko items and inside was a large red unikko cup. I liked it so much I bought another one. It is not only a beautiful item, it is comfortable to hold whether you are male or female. I also bought the small Marimekko plate in the same pattern as a coaster for the cup. Makes a nice pairing.It's a nice splash of color at your kitchen table as you have your morning coffee.

Where do I start with my love affair with my Marimekko mugs and apron all in this same print as well as my shower curtain and bedding? I have both a large and small mug with which I start my day. Form follows function and these mugs are well made as well as beautiful. I love them so much that I am adding more a little at a time .

My Marimekko Unikko Red Large Mug is every bit visually appealing as I had hoped. What I didn't expect, is how smooth and lovely the porcelain feels. It truly is a pleasure to use.

This mug is in my favorite Marimekko pattern, so I have enjoyed looking at it and using it. The size is good, but the handle could flare out more, because it's difficult to balance when full. And with hot liquid, I'd prefer to keep my fingers farther away. That's not a showstopper, though.

I have been using my two mugs for approximately two weeks. I would wish the handle was a little larger so more fingers would fit through. They are large mugs and when filled with coffee are quite heavy. I find I have to support the mug with a finger on my other hand to make sure it doesn't tip and spill. I love the mugs and I do not mind making this adjustment.
