Inspired by the original Aalto (Savoy) vase, this rounder version simplifies the original for the ultimate modern and sleek look. The fluid lines of Alvar Aalto's 1936 design are left untouched, still beautifully illustrating the curving shores and rolling waves of Finland's many bodies of water. It takes 7 craftsmen, 12 work stages and 30 hours to create just one of these extraordinary mouth-blown vases. The clear version is a classic that allows visibility of stems for flower arrangements or whatever contents you choose; Aalto designed the functional art so that the end user could determine its purpose.
